El término generación de leads o lead generation describe el proceso de adquisición de clientes y las medidas que llevan a los clientes potenciales o leads a mostrar interés en un producto o servicio. Se considera que un lead es un registro de datos que la parte interesada pone a disposición de la empresa de forma voluntaria. La generación de clientes potenciales puede formar parte del marketing B2C y B2B. Sin embargo, no se limita a métodos o estrategias individuales.
En cuanto a los sectores que utilizan este tipo de sistema, destacan principalmente hostelería y retail. El motivo es que es en el local donde mayor relevancia cobra el llave en mano. Así, el objetivo siempre es que se matenga forma homogénea la imagen de marca, los procesos y el servicio característico de la cadena. Además, también se persigue dar facilidades a los franquiciados, ya que en muchas ocasiones se utiliza como argumento de venta.
The phrase, "Affiliates are an extended sales force for your business", which is often used to explain affiliate marketing, is not completely accurate. The primary difference between the two is that affiliate marketers provide little if any influence on a possible prospect in the conversion process once that prospect is directed to the advertiser's website. In 2006, the most active sectors for affiliate marketing were the adult gambling, retail industries and file-sharing services.[21]:149–150 The three sectors expected to experience the greatest growth are the mobile phone, finance, and travel sectors.[21] Soon after these sectors came the entertainment (particularly gaming) and Internet-related services (particularly broadband) sectors. Also several of the affiliate solution providers expect to see increased interest from business-to-business marketers and advertisers in using affiliate marketing as part of their mix.[21]:149–150
Unsubscribe rate. Unsubscribes are always going to happen no matter what, and that’s usually okay because those people probably wouldn’t have bought from you anyway. However, a high unsubscribe rate can indicate that you are losing potential customers. Check the following: Why did people subscribe to your list in the first place, and are you delivering on that promise? Is the content of your autoresponder highly relevant to the segment it is being sent to? Are you sending too many sales emails with too little value emails? Use personalization. Personalizing the content of your emails will make it so much more relevant and valuable to them. Personalization goes beyond sticking your subscriber’s first name into the email. You need to tailor the actual content of the email to address their needs. For instance, an online retailer will find it much more valuable to read an email with the subject line, “How to build backlinks to your eCommerce store” than just a generic subject line, “How to build backlinks.”

An affiliate could be the owner of multiple websites or email marketing lists; the more websites or email lists that an affiliate has, the wider his network. The hired affiliate then communicates and promotes the products offered on the e-commerce platform to his network. The affiliate does this by implementing banner ads, text ads, or links on its multiple owned websites or via email to its clientele. Firms use advertisements in the form of articles, videos, and images to draw an audience’s attention to a service or product.
